AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT
Heather Lyons
Heather Lyons has
always had a thing for words—she’s been writing stories since she was a kid. In
addition to writing, she’s also been an archaeologist and a teacher. Heather is
a rabid music fan, as evidenced by her (mostly) music-centric blog, and she’s
married to an even larger music snob. They’re happily raising three kids who
are mini music fiends who love to read and be read to.
FIND HEATHER LYONS
If you guys are not familiar with the works of Heather Lyons, then you are in for a HUGE treat. I will admit that I just recently jumped on the Heather Lyons bandwagon, but now that I have I am not sure how I was living my life before her! A few month ago I heard that Lyons was writing a NA spin off of Alice in Wonderland, I was hooked from the get-go. I remember the day I first saw a promo for this read that was coming. Just tempting me. I FINALLY got my hands on an early ARC for the blog tour and devoured the whole thing in record speed. Guys. It was one of my favorite reads of 2014. I'll save some of my excitement for event night, but Heather Lyons is one of the greatest authors I have come across in my blogging journey. You will NOT want to miss the opportunity to hang out with her. Coincidentally, today is the official release day for The Collectors' Society, so here's a little bit about that amazing novel before we get to Heather's interview:
From the author of the Fate series
and The Deep End of the Sea comes a fantastical romantic adventure that has
Alice tumbling down the strangest rabbit hole yet.
After years in Wonderland, Alice has
returned to England as an adult, desperate to reclaim sanity and control over
her life. An enigmatic gentleman with an intriguing job offer too tempting to
resist changes her plans for a calm existence, though. Soon, she’s whisked to
New York and initiated into the Collectors’ Society, a secret organization
whose members confirm that famous stories are anything but straightforward and
that what she knows about the world is only a fraction of the truth.
It’s there she discovers villains are afoot—ones who want to
shelve the lives of countless beings. Assigned to work with the mysterious and
alluring Finn, Alice and the rest of the Collectors’ Society race against a
doomsday clock in order to prevent further destruction . . . but will they make
it before all their endings are erased?
What is your favorite supernatural genre (Witches, zombies, vampires, werewolves, etc) and why?
What is your favorite horror film and/or read?
You know, I really, really liked the miniseries for The Shining, as that’s also one of my fave horror books. While the one with Jack Nicholson is undoubtedly a great film and a classic, I felt like the miniseries was much more faithful to the book. Plus, it was actually filmed at the Stanley Hotel—which is where King got the idea for his book! It’s supposedly really haunted. Creepy!
What is your favorite Halloween costume (or your favorite that you have worn/have seen)?
What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Chocolate for sure. ALWAYS chocolate. Probably Twix or Snickers.
What is your favorite part about Halloween?
Getting to dress up. I love dressing up! And I love seeing my kids dress up, too.
What is your favorite Halloween memory?
Every year when I was a kid, we’d go to
the park for a Halloween festival. There were booths, contests, prizes . . . It
was SO much fun. Luckily, the city I live in does the same thing, too. It makes
me so happy to take my kids each year to something that delighted me as a
child.
