The Blood Scion (The Scion Legacy #1) by Nazarea Andrews Blog Tour (Review + Giveaway)

Hey readers, Ethan here with an awful post for you guys today! I'm today's featured stop on the blog tour for The Blood Scion by Nazarea Andrews and if you guys know anything about me, you'll know I LOVE all things Nazarea Andrews. Today's post will feature my thoughts as well as an awesome giveaway. Before we get to my thoughts, here's a bit about the novel and our author:

I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them.I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play.

And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us.

The Houses. And their Scions.

Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death.

And somehow, I am one of them.

3486225Nazarea Andrews (N to almost everyone) is an avid reader and tends to write the stories she wants to read. Which means she writes everything from zombies and dystopia to contemporary love stories. When not writing, she can most often be found driving her kids to practice and burning dinner while she reads, or binging watching TV shows on Netflix. N loves chocolate, wine, and coffee almost as much as she loves books, but not quite as much as she loves her kids. She lives in south Georgia with her husband, daughters, spoiled cat and overgrown dog. She is the author of World Without End series, Neverland Found, Edge of the Falls, and The University of Branton Series. Stop by her twitter (@NazareaAndrews) and tell her what fantastic book she should read next.

My Thoughts:

"Because you lost something-everything. I trust people who've lost something. It means they know what things cost. They can't look at the world the same after that. They don't wear blinders, because those were ripped away when their world shattered. So yes- I trust you."

As anyone who knows me will well-know, in my near two years of blogging, I have never come across an author as unique and imaginative as Nazarea Andrews. Across all genres and over a dozen novels, I have come to love each and every word she places on paper. It's a true talent to read from an author such as Andrews. That being said, it was no surprise to me when I absolutely fell in love with this series' prequel novella, The Scionless House. I wish I could say I enjoyed the first novel as much. But I cannot. I actually enjoyed it more!

Picking up right where Scionless House left off, Andrews gets the ball rolling on page one and doesn't stop until the very end. It's a quick read that will leave you blood thirsty for more. I found myself compelled to beg Andrews for info on the next installment, to no avail.

As I touched on in my last review, the vampire genre has become grossly inflated over the course of the last few years. It really takes a top notch novel to stand out in the eyes of a paranormal reader with such a selection out there. Rest assured Andrews delivers an incredible novel. Fast-paced and original, I couldn't get enough!

In a world where vampires are known to the public and their politics shape the human world, our main character (human) Farley Hart must overcome her fears to fulfill a destiny she never imagined for herself. Being thrust into the drama and turmoil of a once prominent family, can Farley rise to the challenge? Or will her newfound feelings in a forbidden romance keep her from reaching her full potential?

When it comes to the characters, Andrews really knocked this one out of the park. Each character in this paranormal world was believable enough and each were tragically flawed to perfection. This was a short read with a huge cast that I really hope we see more of. I can't say too much for fear of spoilers, but trust me when I say that these may be Andrews more developed and exciting characters to-date!

My favorite part about this novel was that it was a paranormal romance that read much more like a dystopian paranormal fiction. Sure the romance was there, but unlike other novels by our author, it really does not play a huge role in the story. In fact, you could take the romantic element out of this story completely and still have a fantastic read. It's great to see a world crafted with the romance can be genuine and realistic in the sense that it doesn't overpower the story. On that same note, I could say the same of the paranormal element of the series. It's extremely subtle. I seriously believe that this would be an incredible series for readers who actually may not generally care for paranormal reads as this one is about so much more. It's a true testament to the work of Nazarea Andrews that she can write a vampire romance novel that isn't completely bogged down with either. The plot, characters, and setting are really that great.

As you guys can clearly see, this was a huge hit in my books. I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of the series. We've got a few months before we get more from Farley, Octavius, Sulla, and the rest of the gang, but I know it will definitely be worth it.

All-in-all I am so excited to be granting The Blood Scion by Nazarea Andrews a near-perfect 5-star review. It was absolutely everything I was looking for and then some. I highly recommend this series to readers of New Adult, paranormal, romance, or dystopian novels. You will not be disappointed. Add this to your TBR today!
