Fatal Beauty by Nazarea Andrews Blog Tour (Review + Giveaway)

Hey readers, Ethan here on this awesome Thursday to bring you an awesome blog tour stop. A few weeks ago I posted about my most anticipated reads of Fall 2014 and a lot of you guys were asking me about this read. I'll tell you what, it's a bit different from my 'norm', but I couldn't put it down. What are we talking about today? Fatal Beauty by Nazarea Andrews. Before we get to my thoughts, here's a bit about the novel and our author:

Charlotte was a good girl.

Sweet and innocent, a debutante with her Daddy’s credit card and a fiancĂ©e who doted on her.
She was destined for a perfect picture life in Charleston.
Until everything goes wrong.

EJ grew up with everything she could ever want, and bored as hell.
Nothing surprises her and nothing ever changes, and she wants out—whatever it takes.
Getting involved with Anthony Jacobs is probably the worst idea she’s ever had—and that makes it irresistible.
Until Charlie needs her.

New Orleans. Memphis. Vegas.
Beautiful girls who know just how to get exactly what they want.
It’s all fun and games, sexy nights and wild parties.

But you can only manipulate your way out of so much, and the body count is rising. When their past catches up, not even a pretty smile will get them out of trouble this time.

Release Date: October 6, 2015

My Thoughts:

As any of my regular readers will well-know, I have a slight obsession with Nazarea Andrews. She is the most versatile author I know, by far. I say it all the time that I've never met an author who can produce as many high quality works as her in such a short period of time. She's published nearly ten just this year! Can you imagine? I'll be outright and say that while Fatal Beauty may now have been my favorite Andrews read, it's definitely worth checking out!

Let's get the negatives out of the way first.

First and foremost, I found this one to be way too short. I definitely could have handled another 100 pages of this story. Not that the plotline needed it, but the characters definitely did. I mean, on one hand I know what happened and why, but I really didn't see the whole holistic 'why should I as a reader care about the well being of these girls' at times. The entire novel was extremely fast paced, which is a little odd considering it takes place over such a long period of time. I think that with some deeper character development and maybe a bit more description, this could have easily been pushed into Andrews Hall of Fame reads. Another negative aspect I found was that with this being such a fast paced, high-octane, thrills, and chills-read, I was a little lost at times. I found myself having to re-read passages several times in an effort to understand what was happening (or to uncover the mystery). The fact was that I don't think I was supposed to 'figure out what was happening', because at the end Andrews blew my mind (more on that later) and it didn't really matter anyway. Make sense? No. Of course not. You haven't read it yet.

The plot for this one was really awesome and extremely original and unique. I was thoroughly impressed by this one from Andrews as it kind of came out of left field for her. I love the surprises and this novel was full of them. I am purposefully going to stay away from any plot details here so as to avoid spoilers, but trust me, you'll be thinking about this read well after the final pages.

Another great thing Andrews pulled off in this one was the settings. The intricacies of lifestyle and cultures in the south, the streets of New Orleans, the back alleys of Memphis, and the Vegas Strip, I couldn't get enough of the locales. I'm a huge fan of settings in a novel and Andrews had me sipping drinks at the bar stools beside Charlotte and EJ at one moment, and lounging with them beside the pool the very next. I could taste the tension of their next action-packed adventure in the air on each page. In true Andrews-fashion, she knocked this setting way out of the park!

So one of my absolute favorite things about this novel was the pure eye-opening jaw agog 'HOLY HELL WHAT JUST HAPPENED' twist that left me speechless at the end of this read. I never saw the ending coming. It was a well-appreciated shock from Andrews that had me laughing out loud at how clever it was. Major kudos to Andrews for supplying me to with the literary shock of the season.

With all this being said, I am excited to be granting Fatal Beauty a well-earned 4-star review. While I may have found a few faults that hindered this one from reaching its' full potential, the sheer mind-blown aspect of it will keep this on dedicated to memory for a long-while to come. I highly recommend this read to mature audiences due to language, drug use, explicit sex scenes, and violence, though strangely enough I think those may be why I couldn't put it down... hmmm... anyway, add this one to your TBR today!
