Stolen Fire (Kindling Flames #4) by Julie Wetzel Review

Hello again readers! Ethan is back for the fourth time this event with another review! Woohoo! This will be my last one tonight, but I am so pumped to share it with you. What am I raving about now? Stolen Fire, the fourth novel in the acclaimed Kindling Flames series by Julie Wetzel! Here's a bit about the book and the author before we get to my thoughts:

Night. A time of quiet, of peace, of rest, and now, a time of terror.

With an uncontrolled vampire plaguing the city, the Vampire Council of Brenton once again calls on Darien Ritter for help.
Overwhelmed with the issues of a new menagerie and plans for his wedding, Darien still manages to step up and answer the call. The only problem is, he suddenly finds himself a little too… human.

Julie Wetzel

Originally from Ohio, Julie always dreamed of a job in science. Either shooting for the stars or delving into the mysteries of volcanoes. But, life never leads where you expect. In 2007, she moved to Mississippi to be with her significant other.

Now a mother of a hyperactive red headed boy, what time she’s not chasing down dirty socks and unsticking toys from the ceiling is spent crafting worlds readers can get lost it. Julie is a self-proclaimed bibliophile and lover of big words. She likes hiking, frogs, interesting earrings, and a plethora of other fun things.

My Thoughts:

I've said this phrase so many times tonight that it has probably lost all meaning, but WOAH. This series guys. Holy smokes. I don't know that I've ever experienced an author whose series gets better with each passing installment like this one, readers! I've talked about Julie Wetzel and her incredible talent quite a bit when writing these reviews and honestly, ever bit of it was well deserved and then some. It's supposed to be that with each passing publication, an author gets better and better, but seldom do you see that reflected in the quality of their series. This one is special folks. Real special!

Like its' previous three installments, Stolen Fire takes us back into the realm of paranormal awesome when we join back up with Master Vampire Darien Ritter and his, now fiance, the somewhat mortal Victoria Westernly. Vicky has been an honorary member of the supernatural community for quite some time now, drawing the attention of vamps, wolves, and even the fae, things for Vicky are starting to change, can she stay mortal forever? Already under the protection of a fae hellhound and a Master vampire, Vicky has nothing to fear, right?

Darien Ritter is even more human than before. His deep sleep cycle is out of whack, his aversion to natural lighting and holy relics is beginning to fade, and his powers are waning. With a new menagerie of vamps in his care, it's vital that Darien gain control of his body and keep his position to keep the natural order of the paranormal world stable.

With no answers from vamps, wolves, or the fae, Darien must turn to one of the oldest and most controversial forms of magic for answers: voodoo. Stolen Fire sends Vicky, Darien, and Zak on a bayou-bound adventure to New Orleans in search of a powerful voodoo priestess who can answer Darien's questions. But is he ready for the answers he may receive? Is his impending mortality a true end to his vampirism? What of Vicky's strange new feelings? Only with the help of friends and former foes can the gang work together to heal Darien before a new evil can take over the city.

Crazy story, right? You've got to catch up people. This series is too awesome to miss!

In true Wetzel fashion, this novel doesn't stop for a second. From page one to the final chapter, our characters are on the go. Where book three may have taken a more human turn, Stolen Fire dives right back in with the paranormal goodness. It's an action packed adventure full of emotional twists, a gripping plot, and even more character development than we've ever seen before.

On top of everything else going on in their lives, Darien and Vicky now have a wolf problem on their hand. When their friend Sue shows up wounded and afraid, it's up to Darien, Vicky, and Zak to keep to wolf calm and safe. The story that unfolds is beyond awesome!

I've said this in all three reviews now, but Wetzel's writing talent is a treasure among the paranormal literary world. The paranormal genre is huge and so many authors fall into the void and are never heard form again. Not Wetzel. With each passing novel she stakes her claim on the mountain of paranormal success. Climbing her way to the top of awesome! You won't find many authors with the passion and love that Wetzels puts into each and every chapter. Her fire is evident in every word she writes.

Darien and Vicky's relationship is really explored and tested in this fourth installment of the series. With their impending nuptials on the horizon, Vicky must come to terms with some harsh truths if she is really prepared to marry a Master Vampire. Can they pull it together before the big day?

The extremely climactic ending to Stolen Fire was probably one of the greatest action scenes in this series. This novel introduces us to a whole new host of characters that will quickly pull at your heartstrings. Get ready for even more amazingness form the mind of Julie Wetzel, Stolen Fire is paranormal masterpiece for the ages!

I cannot say enough that I am begging for the next book in this series. While novel five does not have a definite release date, Wetzel will soon be releasing a collection of short stories set in this universe entitled Granting Wishes, this summer we'll be seeing a whole new side to Wetzel and this universe!

I am so excited to grant Stolen Fire by Julie Wetzel another incredible 5-star review. You guys will not be disappointed by picking up this incredible series. Four amazing novels that are sure to leave any paranormal fan begging for more. Get to one-clicking people, Kindling Flames is ready for the reading!
